The Challenge: Promote and sell DVDs of new documentary film in multiple countries in different languages with targeted ecommerce. (This site does more than you might guess unless you visit all three versions -- created for the US and Canada, as well as in Spanish for US Hispanic market.)
The Goal: Showcase the video trailer, photos, and quotes from this award-winning documentary feature film in multiple languages.
Promote the film with an iPhone application that features quotes and photos from the film, and make the site Search Engine Friendly in each country.
The Technology:
Leveraging Google Checkout and YouTube helped keep this multi-faceted project affordable. We created three distinct web sites for the different languages and markets, but because we used templates and CSS, we were able to leverage the same core information across all three sites to make development more efficient.
To direct vistors to the right version of the site, we created an auto-detection script that identifies each visitor based on the IP address and related location information before directing them to the US, Canadian, or Spanish sites.
