Your Online Reputation Matters
Author Janine Warner discusses ways to build and manage your online reputation in an interview with CTV News in Calgary, Canada.
Building, protecting, and managing your online reputation is more important today than maintaining a good credit score or keeping your resume up to date when you’re job hunting.
The first step is discovering what’s already online. If you haven’t done it already—Google yourself. But before you race off to the nearest search engine, here a few suggestions.
First, don’t stop at Google’s home page. It’s not a bad idea to begin at the front door of the world’s most popular search engine, but if you’re like most Internet users, you’ve already done that at least once.
Expand your search efforts by clicking on the link at the top of Google’s home page to switch to Google’s image search, where you’ll find pictures associated with your name.

Social Media & Diplomacy

The good news is it’s not too late to build a great online reputation. Whether you’re a budding cyber celebrity or a virtual nobody, we can help you craft an online reputation that looks as good — and maybe even a little better — than the real you.
We start with a social media audit and content assessment. If you’re thinking something like an IRS audit involving bright lights and dental tools – no, that’s not it. We use a mix of sophisticated social-analysis and monitoring tools to assess your online reputation, the effectiveness of your current social media efforts, and the areas where you have the best opportunity to grow your reputation online.
We can also do an audit of your competition if you want to know where your arch-enemies are vulnerable. Learn more about our Digital Makeovers and other consulting services.
My friend Amy sent me an email asking why her pages seem to be scoring worse in Google these days and how to better promote her site. Her message reminded me that creating the pages of a Web site is only part of the process. (Visit Amy’s site at inplainsightart.com to see her beautiful glass […]
Google+ has been getting a fair amount of, well, buzz, in the geek press. Forgive the pun as I refer to one of Google’s social media mistakes from the past, but new social media effort is getting far better reviews, especially compared to the angry backlash Google faced when it launched Buzz. In addition to some early positive […]

A special guest article from my friend Dave Taylor One of the things I’ve learned running my tech support site AskDave Taylor.com for almost a decade is that sustained visibility is built on participation. Well, participation or a lot of money to spend on ad campaigns that let you substitute dollars for time. Either way, being […]
