Your Online Reputation Matters

Author Janine Warner discusses ways to build and manage your online reputation in an interview with CTV News in Calgary, Canada.

Why Vanity Searches Aren’t Vain Anymore

Building, protecting, and managing your online reputation is more important today than maintaining a good credit score or keeping your resume up to date when you’re job hunting.

The first step is discovering what’s already online. If you haven’t done it already—Google yourself. But before you race off to the nearest search engine, here a few suggestions.

First, don’t stop at Google’s home page. It’s not a bad idea to begin at the front door of the world’s most popular search engine, but if you’re like most Internet users, you’ve already done that at least once.

Expand your search efforts by clicking on the link at the top of Google’s home page to switch to Google’s image search, where you’ll find pictures associated with your name.

Get a Digital Makeover

The good news is it’s not too late to build a great online reputation. Whether you’re a budding cyber celebrity or a virtual nobody, we can help you craft an online reputation that looks as good — and maybe even a little better — than the real you.

We start with a social media audit and content assessment. If you’re thinking something like an IRS audit involving bright lights and dental tools – no, that’s not it. We use a mix of sophisticated social-analysis and monitoring tools to assess your online reputation, the effectiveness of your current social media efforts, and the areas where you have the best opportunity to grow your reputation online.

We can also do an audit of your competition if you want to know where your arch-enemies are vulnerable. Learn more about our Digital Makeovers and other consulting services.

My free template is twice the size Facebook recommends

Here’s why it works better

Download my new template (it’s free) and you’ll discover why a bigger template can help you manage Facebook’s seemingly contradictory size and design recommendations.

Seriously profile photos display at 160-pixels wide, but Facebook requires that you upload a photo that is at least 180-pixels wide. And that’s just one of the reasons I doubled the size of my Facebook template.

Why I started cyberstalking my friends and colleagues

True confession: I started researching people online in an effort to save myself embarrassment.
