UPDATE: Seems the plugin on this page is not there anymore. I plan to test more plugins on the growing list on the Joomla plugins page http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/search/mobile

If you’ve seen a mobile design plugin you like for Joomla, please post a comment below and let me know or email me directly janine@digitalfamily.com

Jen Kramer, a wonderful Joomla teacher who can be found at http://www.jenkramer.com told me this week she hasn’t had a request to make a Joomla site mobile friendly yet, but she’s definitely starting to think about it.

She passed on these tips for making a Joomla site mobile friendly.

I asked my Twitter buddies about Joomla on mobile, and they pointed me to one template:

and one extension:

Thanks for the information. Very helpful. There are alot of good offers out there but you should do some research before you make a decision.

Googled my way here looking for the search term “joomla basic mobile template”.

My big plan is as follows: The newest version of SH404SEF has a mobile template switching functionality built in. I will usually install SH404SEF on any project I work on as it provides very robust SEF management and some good security features that protect against SQL injection and such. Seems like if this thing does a good job of “switching”, why bother with yet another extension? So, all that would be left would be to actually build the template. I figured if I could find a good base, I can rename module positions to match the ones on the main site and thus not have to worry about multiple versions of content. Maybe it will work, maybe it won’t, who knows?

This is kinda an old-ish thread, so perhaps those that have posted here have better solutions by now?
