Nice chart here bout how the sales of smartphones will surpass the sales of computers by 2011. The surprising thing to me is that it is not just a case of smartphone sales trending up radically – but that the long-term projections are also for computer sales to rise (just not as dramatically).
I wonder if the projections break things down via market – I’d like to see where most of this growth is supposed to take place. We all know that the next couple of years are going to bring explosive growth to mobile phones in Third World countries – is it that smartphone prices are predicted to drop enough to make them affordable there, or is it just that all the consumers in First World countries are going to be replacing their handsets?
The trend lines converge, and the world changes forever...
