My own family inspired me to create DigitalFamily.com, the Digital Family Album book series, and all the resources you'll find on this Web site. I live thousands of miles from people I love and yet, thanks to the Internet, they don't seem so far away.

Learn from other people's mistakes; technology changes too fast to make them all yourself. I've been writing about the Internet and teaching people about Web design since the mid 1990s. Over the years, I've taught college students, reporters -- and my own mother! -- how to create Web sites, but it was only recently that I realized how much I use the Internet in my personal as well as professional life -- from emailing editors to sharing photos of my nieces to finding my husband.
