Reader's Corner

If you've already bought one of my books or videos, let me begin by thanking you -- and confirming that you've come to the right place to find help and additional resources.

Some teachers have human assistants, I make do with technology. Many teachers work with classes of 20 to 200, I've sold a half million books and produced more than 50 hours of video training.

For more than 10 years, I've been teaching (and constantly learning about) web design. In the early days it was a lot easier and over time the rules and best practices have evolved.

If you have a book or video that is more than a few years old, your missing my latest (and best) instruction for today's Web.

When should you upgrade?

The difference between Dreamweaver 8 and the latest version CS5 is like the difference between using a stone axe to carve petroglyphs into the wall of a cave, to using a diamond cutter to create exquisite works of art on the modern web.

I understand that many people can't upgrade their software as often as I do, but upgrade your training to the latest version possible. Often you can use my books and videos for a version ahead, it's like buying a t-shirt you'll grow into as a kid. If you have Adobe Dreamweaver CS5, by all means get the CS5 video and books but even if you're using the program in version CS4, you can probably still get better help from the CS5 version of training. Same for CS3, get the CS4 training and you'll be better off, and ready to upgrade the software as soon as you get around to it.
